Summer 2009 Issue, Number 116

We have lots to celebrate in the Midwest Chapter. Several of our members received awards and scholarships at MLA this spring. You can read all about it in this issue. Also, longtime chapter member Ruth Holst, Associate Director of the NN/LM Greater Midwest Region, was elected MLA president for 2010. You'll get a preview of her presidential priorities in my interview with her this issue. Also, check out Janice Flahiff's return to Liberia after thirty years (she was a Peace Corps volunteer) to teach searching classes to health professionals. Lack of computers and slow Internet access didn't stop her. Last but not least, I hope this issue gets you pumped up for the Annual Conference in Columbus, OH. There's lots to be excited about.

Why did I choose a beach scene to introduce this issue? A couple weeks after the conference I'm leaving for a week's vacation near Tulum, Mexico, where libraries and perhaps health probably won't cross my mind. :)

Salud,
Jason
