Welcome Reception and Speaker October 10

Spend Sunday evening at Springfield's Hoogland Center for the Arts with Ann M. Seidl, "The Hollywood Librarian". We have reserved the lovely Theatre III from 6:30 pm-10:30 pm to socialize, network and enjoy Ann's presentation. An abundance of hot and cold finger foods and assorted beverages will be offered. One ticket to the reception is included with registration; extra tickets are available for an additional fee of $25.00.

Ann has her master's degree in library and information services, and currently works as an independent library consultant in Madison, WI. She specializes in research and geographic information systems in libraries, in addition to traveling and presenting "The Hollywood Librarian". In her presentation, Ann uses a variety of film clips, from the hilarious to the serious, to explore library issues and how the American public has stereotypically perceived librarians, yet she demonstrates what we all know, that librarians are interesting individuals, professionals who are vital in our society.

Some comments from previous audiences describe Ann as "a talented, exciting, entertaining and qualified presenter", who "helped identify many of the challenges that librarians face around our image and status. She spoke well about public misconceptions. Her professionalism, friendly style, and performance abilities all came together as she spoke to us and demonstrated her charisma and knowledge."
