As conference Facilities Chair, your intrepid blog editor has had a few questions about parking at our conference hotel, the Hyatt on Capitol Square. You can use the hotel valet parking or you can park yourself.
Here is what you need to know if you are parking yourself...You can park in the City Center parking garage which is attached to the Hyatt. The Hyatt is on a one way street, 3rd Street. You need to drive past the Hyatt entrance and through the stoplight (stop if it is red!) at Town Street. The entrance to the garage is on the right just past the light. Once you park in the deck, take the elevator in the "back" of the deck. I believe the signs say says "Elevator to State Street." You take that up to the Hyatt level, take a right out of the elevator, walk a bit through the little mall, take the steps/ramp down, and enter the Hyatt lobby. I am going over there right now to post some signs to help you find your way!
You pay when you exit the garage by the hour/day using cash or credit in an automatic machine. Warning: it gives change in dollar coins.
If you are using the valet parking, you have to watch carefully for the entrance to the Hyatt. The little driveway into the covered drive through is right at the corner of 3rd and State streets. IF you drive past, you will have to do some driving around the block a bit to get back. Many of the streets downtown here are one way. Your intrepid blog editor had to do this once already today when she missed a turn driving up to THE Ohio State University to fetch our conference supplies that were stored up there.
